FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Black Women in Media Announces Landmark Black Coffee Table Book Celebrating Power, Legacy, and Cultural Authority
A historic, editorial-driven volume authored by Black women—documenting Black women as architects of media, culture, leadership, and global influence
New York, NY — [January 19, 2026] — Black Women in Media (BWIM), the pioneering media platform and cultural institution dedicated to amplifying and preserving the narratives of Black women, today announced the development of a landmark Black coffee table book—an unprecedented editorial project created to permanently document Black women as cultural authorities, legacy builders, and architects of modern media and society.
This volume is considered landmark not for its scale alone, but for its authorship, intention, and permanence. Conceived, curated, and led by Black women, the book reclaims narrative ownership in a space where Black women have historically been featured without authorship, visibility without control, and presence without legacy.
Rather than positioning Black women as subjects of trend or moment, the book places them where they have always belonged: at the center of power, history, and cultural authorship.
“This book exists because Black women have shaped media, culture, and leadership for generations—yet our stories have too often been fragmented, diluted, or erased,” said Judith Jacques, Founder of Black Women in Media. “This is not a commemorative project. It is an archive. A declaration. A permanent record of Black women as builders of culture, not footnotes within it.”
Why This Book Is Historic
Unlike traditional coffee table books that merely include Black women, this project is built entirely around Black women as the lens, the authority, and the legacy. It is among the first large-scale editorial volumes to:
Be conceptualized and produced by a Black women–led media institution
Document Black women across media, business, arts, fashion, and leadership as decision-makers and cultural architects
Present Black excellence through editorial storytelling rather than spectacle or trend
Intentionally design for longevity, collectibility, and institutional relevance
The book draws inspiration from the editorial rigor of publications such as Vogue, Architectural Digest, and Vanity Fair, while rejecting extractive storytelling models. Every visual, narrative, and environment is curated to reflect authentic power, intellectual capital, and cultural permanence.
An Editorial Archive at the Intersection of Culture and Capital
The coffee table book will feature:
Museum-quality photography and visual essays
Long-form editorial profiles of Black women leaders, creatives, and cultural visionaries
Architecturally and historically significant spaces that contextualize Black women’s influence
Carefully integrated design, fashion, and lifestyle elements that support—not overshadow—the narrative
Brand participation, where present, is editorial and contextual, aligned with legacy, craftsmanship, and values—not advertising.
A Permanent Record for Future Generations
This project extends BWIM’s decade-long mission to ensure Black women are not only seen, but remembered accurately. Designed as a collectible cultural artifact, the book will live in homes, institutions, libraries, executive offices, and archives—serving as a reference point for how Black women shaped this era.
Distribution will include:
Direct-to-consumer and institutional placement
Curated cultural unveilings and private salons
Strategic gifting to cultural leaders, executives, and legacy partners
Select content will be amplified through BWIM’s editorial platforms and media ecosystem.
How to Get Involved
